Ethan is doing really well. He is eating alot and starting to be a bit more active. Today was the first time Ethan was allowed to be totally taken off any monitoring equipment and we got to feed him in a semi-private room alone. He's really starting to take to the whole breastfeeding thing.
We were hoping to be able to bring Ethan home late Monday, but the doctor's said that he has to stay in the NICU until he finishes his antibiotic regimen which is 14 doses 12 hours apart for a grand total of 7 whole days. So we won't be able to bring him home until late Thursday (1/3) at the earliest.
While it's a disappointing, it's much better to have him stay there a few extra days to make sure everything is ok than it would be to bring him home too early and have something happen. At this point keeping him the extra days seems to just be a formality though because he has been doing so well. Looking at all the other babies in the NICU we are actually really lucky.
